Mindset #11 — Love Is Patient. Lust Is in a Hurry. (1 Corinthians 13:4)

Real love builds slowly. Lust pressures quickly.

“A silhouetted couple holding hands under a starry night sky. Text reads: ‘Love is understanding and patient; lust is in a hurry and deceptive,’ symbolizing the contrast between godly love and impulsive desire.”

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:4 (KJV)

Love and lust may look similar at first, but they lead to very different destinations.

Love is willing to wait.

It seeks what is best for another person, even when it requires sacrifice, patience, and self-control.

Lust is different.

It demands immediate satisfaction. It is driven by desire rather than devotion and often disguises selfishness as affection.

God’s kind of love is never rushed.

It is built on trust, honor, commitment, and truth.

When Christ shapes our hearts, we stop asking, “What can I get?” and begin asking, “How can I serve?”

Real love reflects the heart of God.

Lust reflects the desires of the flesh.

Choose the kind of love that lasts.

Love is willing to wait because it values people. Lust is always in a hurry because it values pleasure. Pursue the love that honors God.
