A Prayer For Devine Help

Calling Upon God in Times of Urgent Need

There are moments in life when we reach the end of our own strength. The answers are unclear, the burden feels heavy, and we realize how desperately we need God’s intervention.

Psalm 70 is a prayer of urgency. David does not offer a lengthy explanation or a complicated request. Instead, he simply cries out for God’s help.

This prayer reminds us that there is nothing wrong with calling upon the Lord when we are overwhelmed. God invites His people to seek Him in times of trouble and depend upon His strength when their own strength is not enough.

If you are facing a difficult situation today, let David’s prayer encourage you to bring your need before the Lord.

David’s Prayer for Divine Help

Psalms 70:1-5 – KJV (A Prayer For Devine Help)

Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD. 2. Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.

Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha. 4. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. 5. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.

Reflection

The opening words of Psalm 70 immediately reveal David’s desperation:

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.”

David was not relying on his own resources, abilities, or solutions. He knew his help had to come from God.

One of the most powerful statements in this prayer appears in the final verse:

“Thou art my help and my deliverer.”

David did not merely ask God for help. He recognized God as his help.

There is a difference.

Sometimes we look for help from God while placing our confidence elsewhere. David’s trust rested fully in the Lord.

This prayer also reminds believers that even in times of distress, God remains worthy of praise.

“Let God be magnified.”

Faith does not wait until the problem is solved before praising God. Faith magnifies God in the middle of the struggle.

Closing Encouragement

If you feel overwhelmed today, do not hesitate to call upon the Lord.

He sees your need, hears your prayers, and understands every burden you carry.

Whether you need strength, wisdom, comfort, provision, guidance, or deliverance, God remains your help and your deliverer.

Trust Him completely and continue to seek Him faithfully.
