The Battles You See Are Often the Smallest Ones
You never really know what someone is going through. What they choose to share with you may be only a small fraction of the burdens they carry in silence.
For instance, you might see a man walking his dog early in the morning and assume he hasn’t got a care in the world.
What you don’t see is that he may have spent the entire night at the hospital with his wife or child.
Maybe he just finished working a twelve-hour night shift and is now caring for an elderly parent before trying to get a few hours of sleep.
Or perhaps his anxiety was so overwhelming that he couldn’t sleep at all, and walking his dog is the only thing helping him find a little peace.
The point is simple:
You never know what someone is going through.
The strongest-looking people often carry the heaviest burdens. The happiest smile can hide the deepest pain. The kindest person you meet today may be fighting a battle they haven’t told anyone about.
That is why our words matter.
Our patience matters.
Our kindness matters.
As followers of Christ, we are called to love people not because we know their story—but because God does.
A smile.
A kind word.
A moment of patience.
A simple prayer.
Those small acts of kindness may become the very thing someone remembers when they are struggling to make it through another day.
Before judging someone, choose compassion.
Before becoming impatient, choose grace.
Because you never know what someone is carrying.
Scripture
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
— Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
Reflection
Today, ask God to help you see people through His eyes. Every person you pass has a story. Every face represents a life that has experienced joy, disappointment, victory, loss, hope, and pain.
Choose kindness.
It costs nothing—but it may mean everything to someone else.
Thank you for reading. God bless you!
