Where Have I Been? Rediscovering God’s Presence in a Busy Life

The Realization: God Never Changed

I meant to get with You last week, but I was just so busy. Work, home, and life in general have been overwhelming. You know how it is for me! Some days I hardly find time to sit down. The day seems to vanish before it even begins.

I make plans for what I need to get done, but the list of unfinished tasks only grows. By the time I start one project, another needs my attention. I know I used to talk to You more, but now I struggle to find the time. I remember when we used to connect every day. I don’t know what happened.

I try to plan time for You, but something always gets in the way. No matter how much I plan, it never seems to happen. I’m sorry, Lord—I just don’t know how to manage it all.

I remember the first time I truly took You to heart. You opened my eyes to everything around me, showing me life in a way I had never seen before. Those were the best times of my life. Waking up and calling on You, and You answering—my day was amazing. Even in the most ordinary moments—like driving or brushing my teeth—You were there, listening and caring about every detail of my life. It didn’t matter how small or big my concerns were; Your advice always worked when I applied it.

Looking back now, I wonder why it isn’t like that anymore. I realize it has nothing to do with You. You have always been faithful. You’ve never stepped back or changed. The only question left is: Where have I been?

“For I am the LORD, I change not;”

Malachi 3:6 (KJV)

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

-Hebrews 13:8 – KJV

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10 – KJV

As I reflect, I see it clearly: God never moved—I did. Maybe you’ve felt the same. If so, remember, He’s still right where He’s always been.
