The Cross: A Source of Victory and New Life

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)

The power of the cross is at work in your life. It is your source of victory. Jesus Christ went to the cross for you, and your sins were washed away by His blood—but He didn’t stop there. Scripture also tells us that we are healed by His stripes. They beat Jesus before they crucified Him, and every bit of punishment He took, He did so that you would become a new creature in Him—one worthy to be called a child of God. As Scripture says, you were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20).

His suffering wasn’t only for your salvation but for your complete restoration. Isaiah 53:5 declares, By his stripes, we are healed. This healing is more than physical—it’s spiritual, emotional, and relational. Whatever brokenness you face, the power of the cross is sufficient to make you whole.

But what does it mean to be a new creature? 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When Jesus purchased you with His blood, He made you brand new. Your old life, with its sins and struggles, no longer defines you. Instead, you are now a redeemed child of God, called to walk in the freedom and victory He has provided.

Living as a new creation means surrendering the habits, fears, and doubts that no longer belong to you. It means trusting the One who bore your punishment to also bear your burdens. When we grasp the depth of His sacrifice, our only response can be worship. Romans 12:1 reminds us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, as our act of worship.
