Keep our eyes on Jesus, the storms of life cannot overcome us.
And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Matthew 14:29 (KJV)
How do we respond when God calls us to step out in faith? Do we move forward with certainty, or do we hesitate, questioning if we are truly capable?
That day on the Sea of Galilee, Peter stepped out of the boat without hesitation. He walked on the water toward Jesus, who was already standing on the waves. But then the wind blew, fear took hold, and Peter began to sink. Immediately, Jesus reached out and rescued him.
How many times has Jesus come through for us, even in our moments of doubt? Despite our hesitations, His grace remains constant. Jesus said that anything is possible for those who believe. Yet, the moment we step out in faith, the enemy brings fear, distractions, and opposition—anything to challenge our trust in God.
But here’s the truth: as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus, the storms of life cannot overcome us. Will we trust Him enough to step out, or will we let fear hold us back?
Reflective Questions:
1. What is one area in your life where you feel God calling you to step out in faith?
2. What fears or doubts are keeping you from fully trusting Him?
3. How has Jesus rescued you in past moments of doubt, and how can that strengthen your faith today?
4. What practical steps can you take to keep your focus on Jesus instead of the distractions around you?
Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage to step out in faith when You call me. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, even when the winds of fear and doubt try to shake me. Thank You for always reaching out to lift me up when I falter. Strengthen my faith and remind me that nothing is impossible with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
