Some ideas are repeated so often that they begin to sound like Scripture.

We hear them in sermons, Christmas plays, artwork, movies, books, and everyday conversations. Over time, the details added by tradition can become difficult to distinguish from the words actually recorded in the Bible.

The Scripture or Tradition? Bible Challenge tests whether you can recognize the difference.

Each statement in this quiz is either clearly supported by Scripture or commonly accepted because of tradition, artwork, assumptions, or incomplete quotations.

This challenge is not designed to criticize every tradition. Some traditions may be harmless, helpful, or even consistent with biblical truth. The goal is simply to identify what the Bible explicitly says—and what it does not.

God’s Word remains our final authority.

Can you separate Scripture from tradition?

Tradition can be meaningful, but it should never carry the same authority as the Word of God.

A belief does not become Scripture simply because it has been repeated for hundreds of years. A familiar image does not become biblical merely because it appears in paintings, movies, or church plays.

Followers of Christ should listen carefully, study faithfully, and compare every teaching with the Bible.
