Everything that you do today should be based on scripture. That is the foundation for your thoughts, words, and actions.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
— Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
Jesus fulfills this principle in His own life—He constantly meditated on and obeyed the Word (Matthew 4:4; John 5:19). In the New Covenant, Christ is the living Word (John 1:14), and believers are called to abide in Him (John 15:7), letting His Word dwell in them richly (Colossians 3:16).
We can never read our Bibles too much. You can overdo everything the world has to offer, but you can never overdo reading, meditating on, or speaking the Word of God. We should live each day with the belief that we can never get enough of Scripture.
When we speak, our words should reflect what the Bible has taught us. Its truth should never depart from our mouths. And not only should our speech be shaped by the Word—we must also live in a way that aligns with its teachings. The Word is not just something we quote; it’s something we obey. When our hearts, minds, and actions are saturated in God’s Word, we walk in the kind of success and wisdom that only God can give.
The Bible can bring success to any situation we put our hands to. As children of God, the Bible gives us our pathway to success in this world. Although Bible-based success and success from a worldly standpoint are two completely different things, Scripture makes it clear: ultimate success for the believer is not earthly fame or fortune—it is a life that leads into the eternal Kingdom of God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I felt like I didn’t have time to read Your Word and the times I’ve said, “I’ll do it later.” Help me overcome the fast pace of this world and grow in reading, meditating, praying, and fasting on Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflective Questions:
1. Have I made God’s Word a daily priority in my life?
2. Do my words and actions reflect the influence of Scripture?
3. What changes do I need to make in my schedule to meditate on the Word more consistently?
4. How do I define “success,” and does it align with what the Bible teaches?
5. In what area of my life do I need to apply the truth of God’s Word more diligently?
Thank you for reading. God bless you!
