Live with a holy mindset: Let your thoughts, words, and actions reflect Christ every day.
This must be the mindset we carry into our daily lives. It should shape our conversations, our thoughts, and our actions.
There are some conversations we were never meant to be part of. Whether it’s a phone call or a face-to-face discussion, we must not be drawn into ungodly communication. When corrupt talk begins, we must remember that the same door we walked through can also be our exit.
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:33 (KJV)
There are some text messages that don’t deserve a reply. Some social media posts we have no business looking at. Some websites we should never visit. And there is music that has no place in our ears or hearts.
We must also guard our thoughts. Sometimes we see or hear things that don’t align with the Word of God—and if we’re not careful, we may let those thoughts linger. But we are called to take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to Christ. If we need to repent, let’s do so—right away and in Jesus’ name. We cannot be caught chasing the world’s fantasies and fairy tales. Our only desire must be God.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)
Our actions should reflect Christ to the highest degree. That means there are people we shouldn’t hang around and places we shouldn’t go.
Yes, Jesus sat with sinners—but let’s not use that as an excuse. While He sat with them, He never condoned sin. He called people out of their darkness with love and truth. His presence brought transformation. He shined light in dark places. But He also knew when to walk away, withdraw, and say nothing.
Examples from Jesus’ Life:
• When hearts were hardened:
“And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” — Matthew 13:58
Jesus recognized when people were closed off, and He did not force His power where it wasn’t welcomed.
• When confrontation became fruitless:
“But he passing through the midst of them went his way.” — Luke 4:30
When the crowd tried to kill Him after preaching, He didn’t argue. He simply walked away.
• When it wasn’t His time:
“My time is not yet come.” — John 7:6
Jesus moved with divine timing, not human pressure.
Not every person, place, or situation is meant for us. We are called to live set apart—not because we’re better, but because we belong to God.
Reflective Questions:
- Are there conversations or environments in my life that don’t glorify God?
- What content (social media, music, media) do I need to let go of to better guard my thoughts?
- Am I using Jesus’ example as an excuse to stay where God has called me out of?
- How can I better reflect Christ in my daily actions and relationships?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You in the name of Jesus, and I ask that I may have the mindset of Christ. Help me to walk in holiness, to guard my heart and thoughts, and to reflect Your light in everything I do. Give me the strength to walk away from what doesn’t glorify You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for reading. God bless you!
