Understanding God’s Omniscience, Free Will, and Ultimate Justice
“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”
-Proverbs 15:3 (KJV)
Nothing escapes God’s sight. We witness evil in the world—on the news, on social media, and in our own lives—and sometimes we wonder, “How could this happen?”
People often ask, “If God is all-powerful, why does He allow such things to take place?” It’s a question we may have even wrestled with ourselves. But Scripture reminds us that God has given mankind free will—the ability to choose between good and evil. While He could intervene at any moment, He allows us the responsibility of our own choices.
The Role of Free Will
Sin and evil exist because of those choices, not because of God’s absence or inability. If God forced people to do only good, then love, faith, and obedience would not be real—they would be robotic. Instead, He calls us to choose righteousness, just as Joshua 24:15 says:
“Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
God does not ignore evil, and He is not indifferent to suffering. But rest assured, He is not blind to injustice, nor will it remain hidden forever.
Everything Hidden Will Be Revealed
“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”
Luke 8:17 (KJV)
There will come a day when everything done in darkness will be brought into the light. God’s justice is not always immediate, but it is certain. The wicked may seem to prosper for a time, but they will not escape God’s judgment. As Ecclesiastes 12:14 reminds us:
“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
Reflective Questions
- Have you ever struggled with understanding why God allows evil? How does Scripture help bring clarity?
- In what ways does free will show God’s love rather than His absence?
- How can knowing that God will reveal all hidden things bring peace to your heart?
- How can you choose righteousness in your daily life, even when the world seems filled with sin?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being a God who sees everything—the good and the evil. When we struggle to understand why certain things happen, remind us that You have given us free will, but You have not abandoned us. Help us to trust in Your justice, knowing that everything hidden will one day be revealed. Give us the strength to choose righteousness daily and to walk in faith, even when the world seems dark. Let Your light shine through us, and may we always find peace in knowing that You are in control.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for reading. God bless you!
