Hold on to Truth — No Matter the Price.
Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” – Proverbs 23:23 (KJV)
Truth isn’t cheap.
Lies can be bought for money — but the truth will cost you. And no amount of money can purchase it.
The truth comes with a price. In a world where truth has become unpopular — even treated like the enemy — standing for truth will set you apart. But that’s exactly why it’s priceless.
When you commit to the truth and refuse to waver — things begin to fall into place. Not because truth makes life easier — but because it makes life right.
And its price will reveal itself.
• Pride has to die.
• False beliefs must be surrendered.
• Some friends may walk away.
The world doesn’t reward truth-seekers — but God does.
Because wisdom follows truth.
Truth is the foundation that wisdom is built upon. Without truth, wisdom has nothing to stand on. Truth shows you what is real — wisdom shows you how to live in that reality.
This is why the writer of Proverbs says: Buy the truth, and sell it not.
Hold onto it. Guard it. Refuse to trade it for popularity, comfort, or compromise.
The truth will cost you — but losing it will cost you far more.
Reflective Questions:
- What truths have you compromised on for comfort or approval?
- How does the foundation of truth shape your decision-making and actions?
- In what areas of your life do you need to let go of false beliefs and embrace God’s truth?
- Have you experienced the cost of following truth? How did God reward you in that process?
- What steps can you take today to guard the truth in your life and refuse to sell it?
Prayer
In Jesus’ name I come before You, Lord. Give me the courage to buy the truth — no matter the cost. Help me to lay down my pride, surrender my opinions, and release anything that stands in the way of Your truth.
Teach me to treasure what is eternal over what is temporary. Let wisdom follow me because I have chosen to follow truth.
Strengthen me when it costs me relationships, comfort, or acceptance. Remind me that You reward those who love truth. May I never sell it — not for applause, not for approval, and not for anything this world offers.
I choose truth. I choose You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. – John 8:32 – KJV
