Smoother Than Butter – Steps Towards Eternity Daily Devotional
It hurts deeply when betrayal comes from someone close — a friend, spouse, or even a family member. The words may have sounded loving — but they were only setting a trap.

There is no power greater than God. All wisdom, knowledge, and understanding flow from Him. It is because of Him that the earth still stands today. While some fear that an asteroid or disaster will inevitably destroy the world, the children of God rest in a greater truth — nothing happens outside of His will.
Lies can be bought for money — but the truth will cost you. And no amount of money can purchase it.
The truth comes with a price. In a world where truth has become unpopular — even treated like the enemy — standing for truth will set you apart. But that’s exactly why it’s priceless.
God defines perfection. His Word has been tested through every generation and has never failed. All who walk with the Lord know His faithfulness goes beyond human understanding. He is a shield — a protector — to all who place their trust in Him.
Our walk with Christ is a transformative journey. It begins when we seek forgiveness through Jesus, and along the way, we will find ourselves seeking forgiveness many times as the Holy Spirit convicts us. Yet one thing remains certain: the love of Christ keeps no record of our wrongs.
There is a season and purpose for everything. At times, we find ourselves in deep valleys—places of struggle, uncertainty, and pain. Whether it’s financial hardship, marital struggles, or health concerns, these valleys test our faith. But just as gold is refined in fire, so too are we purified through our trials.
There will come a day when everything done in darkness will be brought into the light. God’s justice is not always immediate, but it is certain. The wicked may seem to prosper for a time, but they will not escape God’s judgment. As Ecclesiastes 12:14 reminds us:
A gentle response can defuse conflict, while harsh words can escalate it. In today’s world, there’s enough controversy that it doesn’t take much to spark someone’s anger. From politics, religion, and sports to racism, fake news, or just about any topic you can imagine, tempers flare easily.
Jesus has come to rescue us from darkness—not just the absence of light but the deep hopelessness that sin brings. Life can feel overwhelming, full of despair, and at times, it may seem like there is no way forward. Yet, in those moments, we have a hope that is greater than our circumstances.
As followers of Christ, we have been called to true freedom—not a freedom to indulge in selfish desires, but a freedom to serve others in love. Jesus Himself, though Lord of all, came to serve rather than to be served. If we claim to follow Him, our lives should reflect His heart of service.
It is easy to let emotions overtake us, leading us to speak words we later regret. This is why we must invite the Holy Spirit into our lives. When we surrender our hearts to Christ and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit, He changes us from the inside out.
Sin comes in many forms—through people, places, things, and even our own thoughts. The world constantly presents temptations, enticing us to stray from God’s path. But one thing is certain: God does not tempt us.
