Discover how trusting God and loving your enemies leads to victory and peace through faith.
But THE LORD your GOD ye shall fear; and HE shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
2 Kings 17:39 (KJV)
When we honor God and prioritize His ways over our own, He promises to fight for us. Enemies may come against us—even those who greet us with hugs and kind words while secretly wishing us harm. They may smile to our faces but speak evil behind our backs, plotting our downfall.
Yet, God sees every scheme. He knows every intention, and He stands as our defender. Instead of retaliating, we are called to pray for them and let God handle the rest. They do not understand the ways of God, nor do they realize that He is on our side. The Lord, who knows no failure, will deliver us from even the most powerful enemies. He will crush their plans in ways they cannot comprehend. He is our shield in this evil world, guarding and protecting us at all times.
However, God commands us to respond in a way that seems unnatural to the world:
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44 (KJV)
Loving our enemies requires faith. It means trusting God to handle our battles while we demonstrate His love. It is through this obedience that we glorify Him. In doing so, we become living examples of His transformative power. He can take our greatest enemies and transform them into trusted friends. He can break down walls of hatred and replace them with bridges of love.
This is the power of God’s love in action. When we follow His commandments, His light shines through us, impacting even those who oppose us. Our obedience not only protects us but also draws others—even our enemies—toward the love of Christ.
Today, trust God to fight for you. Love your enemies and watch how God moves on your behalf.
Reflective Questions:
1. Do I truly trust God to fight my battles, or do I try to handle them on my own?
2. How do I respond to those who seek to harm me or wish me ill?
3. Am I willing to pray for my enemies, even when it’s difficult?
4. In what ways can I show love to those who oppose me, as commanded by Jesus?
5. How might my obedience to God’s command to love my enemies impact my own heart and possibly transform the hearts of others?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my defender and shield. Help me to love my enemies and pray for those who wish me harm. Give me the strength to trust You completely, knowing that You fight my battles and deliver me from all evil. Let Your love shine through me, even in difficult situations, so that others may see Your power and grace. Transform hearts and bring peace where there is conflict. I trust in Your protection and believe in Your victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
