The Intersection of AI and Scripture: Reflecting on Past Experiments

The current state of AI and the Bible is beginning to separate. Not long ago, I used an AI model to create several different scripture lists based on topic. I did these to understand what we could expect from AI. After all, why not probe it with the most valuable source on earth? I’m talking about the Bible.
It’s important to note that AI did not create Bible topics on Pathway365. Every Bible verse for the topics on our ‘There’s A Scripture For That ‘page was carefully hand-selected. This human touch ensures the integrity and relevance of the verses to the topics.
That said, Some of the lists it (AI) created with the topic I gave it were on par with what one would expect. There were a few minor mistakes, but nothing major. I also took it a step further and asked AI biblical questions. It would answer me with scripture based on my question. That part of it was terrific.

A Shift in AI’s Understanding: A Red Flag

As I mentioned, I did this a few years ago. Fast-forward to 2024, and that same AI model is supposed to be far more advanced now—at least, that’s what its creators have dubbed it. But when I ask about scripture, it says it does not recognize what I’m asking and proceeds to tell me it cannot continue with such topics but would be happy to help me with something else.
This should raise a red flag for all of us, as it hints at a future where AI may no longer recognize or acknowledge the Bible. Imagine a world where the Bible, the cornerstone of our faith, is no longer understood by the very technology we’ve created. This is a potential consequence we must consider.
I’m not trying to instill fear in anyone, but now isn’t a better time to get your hands on a hard copy of the Bible. With AI in control, it’s very possible that one day, you will not be able to find a copy of the Bible online. Scripture tells us that people will turn away from the truth (The Bible).

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. – 2 Timothy 4:3-4 – KJV

Implications for the Future: An Urgent Call to Action

For instance, if the world is moving away from The Word of God, then you would tend to believe that the world would spend less time searching for Bible verses online and AI is building the future of the internet based on users’ search history/digital footprint. Then what would AI do with the Bible?
The fact that it no longer recognizes the Bible should be an eye-opener for everyone. As I wrote this article, a story came out about AI models that can teach other AI models without human input. At the same time, that seems impressive. Once again, I ask what AI would do with the Bible, especially without human input.

With all that being said, I’m not against AI at all. I know that God will allow AI to continue as long as he allows it to. God is in control!
